Penaga Hotel - Penang

“Travel brings power and love back into your life...” - Rumi

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Almighty, the Most Merciful

Hi readers!

How long has it been? Ages! Months!

I have been crazy busy. Work, family, love have all been progressing at a rather crazy rate!

I will however update you about this hotel which I absolutely loved on one of my working trips!

Boutique Hotel in Penang called Penaga Hotel.

Words cannot do it justice. So pictures please!

Beautiful classic lobby with these flowers greeting me

Look at all these vintage stuff in this ahow cabinet at the lobby!

My gorgeous poster bed. Slept like a baby! Haha

I loved the classic windows!

Reminds me of my great grandma’s closet. What a touch! Do not let the classic look fool you. There is a safe and plush robes and slippers inside

The bathroom is classic by design but has all the modern features of the bigger hotels.

I am in love with these light switches!

Love the hallway too. What a vibe!

A corner as you go down the stairs. Don’t worry there is a lift too.

The restaurant where i had complimentary tea and my view was the pool!

Views from the garden/spa at the side of the hotel. There are also villas i think but it was sold out.

The staff was friendly and the ambiance was old Penang mansion type of vibe. It was if I walked through time!

Its centrally located so you can walk around practically anywhere.

Will definitely come back here.

Until the next update!

Much love from Airiel and I. Peace and love to everyone.

Let's Move!

" 'A fight is going on inside me' said an old man to his son. 'Its a terrible fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, pride, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you.'
The son thought about it for a minute and then asked 'Which wolf will win?'
The old man replied simply, 'The one you feed'..." ~Wendy Mass

Jaded...

My family knows the story of how I became an advocate and solicitor.

It was a secret ambition I have always kept close to my heart after Maksu met with an accident. We were appointed solicitors as a pro bono case by the Queens court. Mr. Paul Scott (God bless his soul) was appointed as our solicitor. Over the next 10 years (before our case finally went to trial in the first ever video teleconferencing trial in the UK and Malaysia), he became our family. He visited us in Malaysia, stayed at crappy hotels, stood the heat which always made him pink, ate the food Nenda cooked for him and had seconds while he prepared our statements, went to see Maksu's doctors to prepare her medical reports for Court. He became a steadfast protector of Maksu and us. He even brought his lovely wife along for some of his working trips to Malaysia to meet us.

So emotionally involved with our case he became, he asked that he be excused as solicitor assisting the barristor when the matter went to trial as he was visibly emotionally invested in our case and did not want to create issues which can be raised in objection for the other side. I remember those were the exact words he used and said to Nenda.

Nenda was devastated when he passed away as was the rest of our family. When Nenda and Atok visited the UK the year after he passed away, Nenda and Atok visited his lovely wife. His wife cried meeting Nenda and Atok and told us how much he cared for Maksu and the rest of us as the years passed.

It was in his memory, that I decided to become an advocate and solicitor. Somebody needs to take care of Maksu's legal affairs I thought. But at the time, I was in University Malaya, finishing my science-stream based matriculation. Nenda wanted me to be a doctor like Bonda. I was doing very well but knew that I did NOT want to be a doctor.

As my finals dawned, I realised that if I continued to do well I would definitely get the offer to do medicine which Nenda would never let me turn down. And so I decided to do the unthinkable, I purposely flunked a subject. Even with one F for a subject, my pointer was in the 3.33 region because I obtained A's in the rest. Nenda and Atok was upset beyond belief and I was upset that I made them upset. But I was also relieved, no being a doctor for me.

But it was during this time, Allah showed me the importance of obtaining approval from your parents for anything that you do in life. With their disapproval of my rebellion, I was turned down at every corner. I could not get into the law programme in UM or UIA as my matriculation was science based and was out of time to apply for the UITM intake. UITM does not accept science based matriculation for its arts based programmes either.

I entered a private college and took up law while appealling to UITM, hoping for a big break.

At that time I realised the heartbreak I caused Nenda and Atuk by doing what I did. We were not even on speaking terms. They simply could not understand how their daughter could have failed a subject. They did not know that I purposely did what I did. I was too afraid of telling Nenda that I wanted to be something completely different from what she envisioned me doing. And so I had a chat with Bonda. Bonda eventually spoke to Nenda and told her the truth. I did not know what happened but Nenda and Atok then gave their blessing and became my greatest supporter then on.

With their blessing, my fate did a 180. My uncle helped me in securing a spot in the law faculty for an interview for the 2nd intake. I cannot thank my uncle enough for his help. Prof Darby became the dean of the Law Faculty in UITM. He went against normal procedure and convention by scouting for science stream based students to put in his law programme. For the 2nd intake I was called into his room where he explained to me that I, along with a handful of other students was his 'social experiment'. He became my favourite lecturer of all time. I cannot thank him enough for daring to be different.

The rest as they say is history...

And I am still here...it goes without saying that this is a profession I chose to be in because I am passionate about it and this is who I have always wanted to be.

But these days, I find myself increasingly frustrated with the people in my profession. A few days back I went to FC for a case management where 4 rather senior counsels appeared. Needless to say, I was the youngest there. When the matter came up for case management, everybody rushed for a seat leaving me, the only female in the bunch, standing up. I would have happily offered and given up a seat for a more senior member of the Bar, but the least any one of them could do was to offer me one and I would have politely declined [chivalry is dead, No?].

Never the matter, the CM went on. Parties could not agree on a hearing date common to all. One senior member actually insisted on fixing a date in March of April, knowing full well that we were not free. It escalated into a shouting match rather with him eventually saying that it was not his business to care about other people's free dates and he was free and everybody else could very well write in for an adjournment. This went on to a full blown war between the rest of the counsels and went on for a good 40 minutes. And here I was standing, watching these 4 people arguing like children. And so I turned to look at the senior member  and addressed the registrar at the same time and said 'Sir [senior member], Tuan [Registrar], we cannot fix a date for hearing which is not convenient to ALL counsels. This beats the purpose of this entire case management exercise. Doing such a thing would tantamount to nothing less than a miscarriage of justice' . The person glared at me like 'miscarriage of justice' was a foreign word!

He then ignored me and said 'So Tuan, March or April?'. And for the first time in a LONG time, I lost my temper. To which I responded 'We have gone past March and April already haven't you noticed?  We passed those months during the first 20 minutes of your pointless arguing, which then continued for another 20 minutes!!'. He was finally quiet. All of them became quiet. In fact, the whole place became very quiet. Then quietly they all agreed to a date in July where all counsels were free.

I noticed that the 3 counsels took the effort to shake my hand afterwards as if for the first time they acknowledged my existence in the room. One patted me in the back telling me how brave I was. One offered me a job (I seem to be getting this a lot these days). One took down my phone number (strange)
and magically started remembering my name. The one who started all the shouting, left in a huff.

But my mood changed for the rest of the day. What was so brave or great about me losing my temper? Should we not reserve arguments in court on merits and not something so trivial about the fixing of dates? What was the whole point of them arguing for 40 minutes while I stood there in my 5 inch heels? Chivalry is certainly dead isn't it?

And that is just but one instance of my frustrations. I am at the point of completely being jaded in a profession which I profess an undying love for.

Sigh..... I don't know what to do...

What a week...

This week without a doubt, has been the busiest so far this year.

Had to rush like mad for a trial on Thursday (no, not me with the bosses, my own trial. Yikess!!!). What made it worse was that:-

(a) There was also a hearing in the Federal Court on the same day so finalise finalise the Core Bundles, arrange boxes for bosses bla bla bla;

(b) There was also a hearing in the Court of Appeal. We asked for an adjournment but surprise surprise, we did not get one. They only agreed to stand it down until 12.00. An adjournment requested because we were caught in the FC were refused and we only knew it was refused on Tuesday. What does this mean? It means we had to finalise our submission and bundle of authorities all by Wednesday, before the hearing on Thursday.

See how everything seems to fall on a Thursday? Get my drift? At the same time, I had overdue opinions (2 in fact this same week, 1 of which is still overdue by the way....hishhh), settlement agreements, blah blah blah...Shesshhh

Verdict : Lack of sleep + never ending adrenalin rush + not enough time with Airiel = Tired and slightly miserable

I hate to admit it but I sort of miss Aries as well. Eheh

And the loss of Steve Jobs. What a legacy he has left. Everybody has read his Standford Speech after his passing. I read that speech in late 2005 a few months after he gave it. At the time I could not understand the hype surrounding a Mac, and despite his speech, it was still some time until I converted (yes, converted) to a Mac and never looked back.

But what he said touched me. I have the video in my Mac playlist I keep on Youtube. At times when I feel that I am lost, I would listen to it. And I would wake up the next day with renewed vigour. Let me me share with you the parts of his speech which I cherish the most:-

"Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

"Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle."

"Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true."

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

And his speech eventually gave me the inspiration to name this blog 'Living my life...my way.."

Thank you Steve.

You will be missed.

And what a week this has been...

Chambi oh Chambi

Hish, there is supposed to be an 'e' at the end of each word up there.

You know what they stand for?

Chambie - Chambering Students

Why oh why? Because they made me lose my temper...this is Idza ok? To my unimates, have you ever seen me lose my temper throughout 5 years of law school and 1 year of honors? Even once?

To my chambiemates in SD, have you ever seen me lose my temper throughout my 9 months of chambering?

How bad was it sampai ME, can lose my temper and throw a freaking fit? It was bad. I tell you. I am being bulied, bullied by these kids....

Instance 1

Me : Can you prepare the notes of evidence for this one day of trial? I will do the other 2 days
Chambi: I can't do it because I am doing work for Partner X, Partner Y, Partner Z

Me: I understand that but I need you to do it, its just for 1 day, I will do the other 2 days
Chambi: Owwwh, I can't promise you

And then I am like (Huh, I can't promise you? Is this a date? Are we in a relationship?)

Me: Can you please do it?
Chambi: Can you get someone else to do it? There are new chambering students today.

Me: But you attended the trial?
Chambi: I really can't do it

Me: ???????

Instance 2

Me: Where are my Notes?
Chambi: I don't know

Me: Ok, Who is doing what?
Chambi: I don't know, I am doing 1 clip, I do not know who is doing the rest

Me: Huh? I gave you a whole cd, why can't you just do the whole cd?
Chambi: Owwwh, we have all been transferred to the *&^$^) department, I have a lot of (*&(*^&%$ work

Me: ??????? (does that answer my question?)

__________________________________________________________________________________

And the list goes on ad infinitum...

1. Does not revert with work given at the deadline specified;

2. Dahla tu, tak revert lepastu tak dtg jumpa kata tak dapat revert and ask to be given more time;

3. Dahla tu, kita pulak kena kejar diorg cari sebab nak tanya apa jadi dengan kerja kita;

4. Amboi, kul 6.30 dah balik nampak, dahtu amende yang ko sibuk sgt tu?

5. The rudeness, the lackadaisical attitude...

Macammana aku tak marah, tell me? And it is not just me, I have not even started on the nightmares others have been through when it comes to these little monsters.

And  I think to myself, I chambered not so long ago and never would it cross my mind to pull these stunts off because:-

No.1 - I am interested in learning

No. 2 - I would know that learning is never an easy process

No.3 - My parents thought that rudeness is not an acceptable form of behavior to anybody

I had a chat in Court today and apparently most of my friends from other firms are also suffering from this as well.

What is going on?

What is happening to our younger generation? And yes, at the rate these monsters are acting and the difference during the time when I chambered, I must be very old indeed.

Online Shopping Episode 1 2011 & Vacation headaches

Lets just let the pics do the talking

Bought the one in the below pic at LadiesFashon, address as per in the pic. Love their clothes!!

 Pants for the lil one, bought this from BabyHaus

 Court Attire fabric from E-amnibiz

 Bought dress above from LadiesFashion as well

And the top pic from LadiesFashion as well

And this one too!!! (can you tell how much I love their clothes already? hehe)

Am currently surveying where to go for vaccay in perhaps October or December this year.  Any ideas guys? Narrowing it down to:-

  1. Krabi;
  2. Bali;
  3. Koh Samui;
  4. Gold Coast;
  5. Paris; and
  6. Christchurch.
Trouble is, if I go in December, the cold places are out... it will be super cold. Am afraid of Airiel's lung thing issue. Aries also hates cold places, he loves islands, beaches instead...

Also imagining a crazy freaky schedule at the same time:-

  • Weekie at kuantan this 29th with Bonda, Nenda, Atuk n Maksu;
  • And then off to in laws on 1st;
  • Trip to Pulau Perhentian on CNY with inlaws fam; and
  • Trial on 7th Feb for the rest of the week onwards.

Phewwwww....!!!

I'm down but not Out

Yesterday was the day..

I was rushing for the litigation diary meeting one floor down from my room ... missed a step ... and fell down.

What are the odds of my fall being in full sight if the managing partner mind you?

Aduss..dahla tu..my Waterman fave pen was broken.

I also had hairline fractures to 2 of my toes..

And a sprained ankle. Yesterday I did not feel so bad..so I was walking around mcm biasa la kan..sekali when I woke up this morning..woww...sakit GILA.

Sakit ok.. yikes..

What are the odds of these things happening during the busiest time of the year?

I hope the sprain heals quickly..got a busy week ahead.

InsyaAllah

This is just Counter Productive

I am blogging yes..

But from one of my laptops which I brought to the office.

Why you ask?

Because my office has decided to block Youtube, Facebook, blogs and any social networking site out there.
And even worse, I cannot access any online banking sites, CIMB, Maybank, RHB.

While the management may think that this is for the productivity of the firm, I must..with all the professionalism I can muster..shall respectfully disagree..and I do so for the following reasons:-

(a)  You cannot expect me to work for 12 hours a day (and yes...we lawyers do spend up to 12 hours here, forsaking time with partners, children, parents, pets e.t.c) and not go into facebook at least for 10 minutes every 3 or 4 hours?

(b)  We are always told to be more sociable, I am a social handicap after all. And Facebook tu kan 'Social Networking' punya site. Hello? This is my only lifeline to have a semblance of a semi-normal life;

(c) I have always listened to music while I work. This practice has started since uni days. Remember the tudung girl who always carries a green folder full of cassettes in the UITM Law Faculty? Yes, that would be me. Did my results ever go down the drain because of my music listening habits? NO, I was one of the top-scorers there.This means only one thing - MUSIC is absolutely necessary for my productivity. You blocked Youtube, my only source of music in this office.  I shall automatically therefore be less productive. Thank you.

(d) Since I spend so much time in this workplace, sitting in front of this pc. I would not have time to go to the Bank would I? Therefore online banking transactions are a must for me. Why was it blocked for the love of God?

I do not understand this act of cruelty. Someone please explain this to me?

So terpaksalah bawak laptop ke ofis setiap hari...

Sob..sob

Dilemma of a Working Mother

Well, I know that the title of this post is a general one but I am just referring to myself actually..

My job is a demanding one, ( I thank God that the hours were not as bad as they were before) and at times when I am really busy, I am REALLY BUSY.

Last Saturday, Airiel already had a cough...Sunday, cough persisted but no fever.

I had a trial the coming Monday (which is scheduled to last until next Tuesday - if we are lucky)

So I left the house as 6.30 to make sure all documents were in order and all the relevant documents were brought to Court (all 4 boxes of em' together with 2 counsel bags and God knows what else - Thank God I was with a colleague)

Apparently Airiel was wheezing, Bonda took him to the clinic for a NEB session in the afternoon, and his fever spiked as well.

I could not get out of that trial, I just couldn't...

After the trial was adjourned to the next day, I went back to the office and left around 8.30 (early I might add with all the workload right now). At the same time Bonda, Nenda and Atok had already gerak to take Airiel to the clinic for another NEB session.

I drove Stevie at 170 km an hour to reach the clinic (which was at home) in 15 mins. And I cried all the way...

I am an "ABSENT" mother and that is just a FACT...I was not there when it mattered the most.

I tell Aries 'you are not around for our son'  and yet I am no better nor am I any different. And I am worse, at least Aries has an excuse. He lives 300 miles away. What freaking excuse do I have?

It kills me...from inside to out..

I have tried to balance being everything, being a good wife to Aries, a good daughter to Nenda and Atok, a good daughter in law to my MIL and FIL, a good sis to Kema and Bonda, a good and reliable employee to my bosses and I swear to God that I am trying my best to be the best mother to Airiel.

I do not know how to achieve all that... how do I balance all this? I really do not know... I am truly lost.

Yesterday was a sleepless night, sponging Airiel's body to get his fever down. Poor him, kena masuk ubat bontot untuk kebahkan demam.  I have a fever today but like everything that goes on when it comes to me, I ignore it. I am thinking, it ain't that serious until I land myself in the hospital. So I just blink and have 2 panadol actifast and move on.

As I have said before, on certain days I feel like I am running and functioning on pure adrenalin to get by.

But this is one day where I feel that everything is just tiring me down.

Idza Hajar sesungguhnya sangat penat.

Dear Allah, please give me the strength to accept the things that I cannot change, and the perseverance to change what I can...

Crunch Mode

Tomorrow is my last day before I go on leave for Raya ..

Going off to Mars this year..well jarangpun balik Perak these days. My parents pun duduk KL je.. and I stay with them..and balik Kelantan pun brape kali jer setahun, so most major perayaan, lama kat in-laws.

Not that I am complaining... I actually like my in-laws, not judgmental, knows that I am a working mom and is as tired (if not more) than Aries sebab kerja and jaga anak lagi...so tak pester me memeruk ke dapur aje..kalau balik kampung sendiri...byk isu tau, malas nak criter...kalau sampai my wedding pon my Perak family punya side kecoh (most of them but not all) ada hati nak suruh family kami asingkan guests lelaki perempuan time my wedding (aper kes ni?) and tak bagi main mainstream music (nasyid only k? tak kisahla tu, tapi takleh campur skali ker? Ish..) then go figure la kan...

Statement paling tak boleh tahan. Them saying to my parents 'your daughters are WESTERNISED' . For those who know me la kan...am I really? Honestly do they know what is the meaning of the word? Itulah yg malas tu.. gila malas nak bertandang ke sana dan tgk org-org yang kononnya sangat EASTERNISED la kan... hahaha

Apa agaknye reasoning? Well maybe:-

(a) I speak English fluently, but c'mon how can that be a reason? I speak Arabic as well laaa!;

(b) I spent most of my childhood in UK where mum was studying and working at the time (so what?, this does not mean anything at all);

(c) I speak my mind. Now this was what my uncles said to my parents. Me and my siblings are too 'vocal' in voicing our opinions. I do not think being confident in your thoughts, views and beliefs are 'western' principles. In fact, it was my parents who instilled me these values and who taught me to be independent, strong and to always stand up for what you believe in; and

(d) Dressing? Now this cannot be the reason at all. 100% of my office attire consist of baju kurung. I wear and do so proudly, a headscarf;

So I am lost on this .. but anyways..because of this 'misunderstanding' as they would term it or what I would call 'shallow mindedness', we have not spoken to each other since my wedding kot....sad but true..so Aries does not really recognise any of my side's relatives (I am referring to my father's side). Sigh...

Ish..dah lari topik..but anyways..I am frantically trying finish off work before the leave. I have got one major piece of work done tapi bertimbun lagi ni yg lain... Lepas raya no cuti..tentatively ada trial right lepas raya i.e. 13 haribulan which should go on for a week.. and another one right after that from 20th onwards...get the picture? Penatlaaaaa....thank God I love my job. So Alhamdulillah in that sense.

Alhamdulillah murah rezeki Aries sejak practise ni...so kami tgh tersenyum happie ni...

Lalalalalala....

This may be my last post before Raya so I would like to say:-

"Salam Aidilfitri buat semua, ampun zahir dan batin ingin dipinta..."

Change takes courage

I would like to congratulate Aries for today.

He has obtained his PC and is back in court.

It was not an easy journey. There are bits and pieces of the harrowing experience he went through in this blog, but a majority of the story is played out behind the scenes, with only me watching.

I know for a fact that he loves his previous job. Passionate enough about it to wake up earlier than I do to be in Court by 8.15 in the freaking morning, passionate enough to just go on ahead with a trial despite takde IP, passionate enough to endure half a year of crap from his now ^&**(%$ and yes, passionate enough to cover for his so called 'friends' (whom I know very well - some of them are my unimates remember?) who always duduk ofis to ampu &*((^%$, while he slaves away in Court sampai petang, only to be given a bad rep sebab jarang masuk ofis.

I told him, 'people who do not conform to the mould like you and me do not belong in the Government service'. I told him when his *&((&&^^ issued out a circular disabling him from &^$#$##% (which was embarrassingly pasted on every single balai polis in ^^&&*R that it is high time to walk away.

I told him when his (**&^%%^ told the newbies in the office that he was 'evil' and 'do not learn anything from him' that there is not point in staying with a &**((%$# who can see no good from you no matter how hard you try because he already has a pre-conceived notion about you and made no effort to be professional.

The demeaning sms'es, phone calls...all meant to take away every bit of dignity and confidence you have in your abilities (I have been there before but not to this degree).

He tried to take it, but couldn't ... and he left. I thought it was also disgusting that defamatory letters was sent out by &^%** to unrelated government departments accusing Aries of things totally unrelated to his job at the time. I know for a fact that even my name was mentioned. I know for a fact that even the status of my marriage was mentioned in this letter. Other details of the letter, biarlah menjadi rahsia kami. I know that as a matter of law, this letter was prima facie defamatory of me and Aries.

I know for a fact that our phones were tapped and may even be still to this day, I do not know for sure, and thats perhaps why info on our marriage ended up in that letter. But me and him refused to change our phone lines, because we were adamant we had nothing to hide.

I also hated the fact that when he left, a former colleague of his and both a unimate of ours just could not find it in himself or herself to be happy for him as he was given a really good offer by a firm stating that 'gaji memang banyak tp kalau buat representasi, confirm kena tolakla' (tempeleng jepun mahu?).

I cannot believe that after he left, his &^%^** asked around to see whether he was going to work in &^%%^ or &&%%& and then said 'I will make sure that if he works &*((%$$$, he will get no cases'. MasyaALLAH, kejinya anda. Are you then saying that awak boleh tentukan masa depan seseorang itu? Are you saying that you have the power untuk menyekat rezeki yang Tuhan telah tentukan untuk seorang hambaNYA? Bukankah Tuhan yang memberi rezeki? Not you right? What exactly do you mean by that statement you made, fool? Beristighfarlah sebentar dan sedarlah diri sedikit.

I am glad that Aries has managed to get the courage to walk away from this nonsense and I would have to state that it is nonsensical beyond belief, I really do not know whether to laugh or cry after experiencing it with him.

And now he has a really good boss and a good working environment. The Hijrah was for the best.

To his &*(*%$$, with Aries gone you will know siapa yg buat kerja, siapa yg tak. At least Aries will no longer have to cover for &())^^ who has a million excuses for not going to court, tayar pancitla, tak sihatla, mcm mcm la, takut sebab takde IP la ... every freaking monday buat hal I tell you (pelempang Jepun kepada anda juga boleh?). Siapalah agaknya mangsa baru si fulan itu? Jeng Jeng Jeng. Not our problem anymore...hahah

I know Aries is the type to let things go and forgive and forget and may not be happy with this post as he has believe it or not, forgiven the culprits for all that was said and done, but I feel that this post must be written so that we can bury our skeletons and move on with our lives. This will be the last post on this issue, ever.

To Aries, this is for you:-

Courage is not limited to the battlefield
The real tests of courage are much quieter
They are the inner tests, like remaining faithful when nobody's looking
like enduring pain when the room is empty, and
like standing alone when you're misunderstood

Charles Swindoll

Change takes courage and you made that change. I am proud of you.

This cannot be worth it

I had an uninterrupted weekend with Aries...We laughed and fought and played with our son. We were a normal family. I see him happy.

As he was on his way back on Sunday night, he gave me a call..his *oss has apparently told someone or god knows how many people that he is on drugs. This was his *uperior. Someone who is supposed to guide, teach, protect, aid...

I have known him for 6 years and have been married to him for 3. He does not even smoke.

Ini adalah fitnah...dan fitnah itu lebih teruk dari membunuh.

And I realised, nothing about his life was normal. He goes to JB for a job that pays him nuts, away from me and Airiel, with a *oss that wants to destroy him. Yes, destroy is the word. He wants to disgrace Aries. He wants Aries to quit. He goes to work everyday not knowing what his *oss is going to do to him. He is in court for 3 quarters of a day while his *oss schemes on how to get him fired, or how to drag him towards disciplinary proceedings. Every morning, he never knows what kind of phone call he is going to get from his *oss. Maki dan maki dan maki lagi. I know it.. I know it all..

And this morning I saw an sms his *oss sent someone which was forwarded to me. I was smack dab in the middle of a continued trial.

My face changed, my heart sank, my hands clenched into fists.

For the first time in my life, I feared for Aries. I feared for his safety. Someone is out to get him, and we all know who.

This cannot be worth it. What is this nonsense? Apa semua ini? How do you work in these kind of conditions?

This cannot be worth it. Aries may not be the most perfect person out there, but this is just too much.

I told him, be the bigger man and walk away. He is not the 1st person victimised, he is the 5th to leave under this *oss and I doubt he will be the last.

I told him, some people are not worth our time, and this person is clearly one of them.

I do not understand it, he was doing fine under his old *UP, no such nonsense as this.

I shake my head, blink away my tears and continued with my trial.

I know Aries is the bigger man but it does not sadden me less to see him walk away from something he loves so dearly.

Everything happens for a reason. Sabarlah Aries.

This cannot be worth it.

Office Politics

Ahhaa, and so here comes the awaited post.

I need to write this down to express disgust first and foremost and to perhaps..express how puzzled I currently am when it comes to this.

I paid a visit to J*& O(&^** on Monday and I saw the division of people almost immediately...what I mean by this is...

(i)  Ada golongan 'Aku kena nampak macam rajin kerja, tulis-tulis padahal tgh lukis gambar burger'

(ii) Ada golongan 'Aku kena nampak macam baik dgn ko padahal belakang ko aku mcm cibai kutuk ko'

(iii) Ada golongan 'Aku memang malas buat kejer and aku tak kisah siapapun nampak, sebab aku ampu bos and selagi bos suka aku, buat keje pun tak payah'

(iv) Ada golongan 'Aku ni kaki mengadu and drama, bende sikit pun aku heboh mcm kiamat, bukannya apa, nak tunjuk kat bos aku ni mcm rajin and bagus'

And of course ada golongan yg betul-betul buat kerjelaa..tahniah buat anda jikalau anda begitu.

And I thought, WTF is going on? Machiavelliannye suasana kat sini...adakah semua gov. department sama?

How is it possible for you to be in a 'favoured' group atau sebaliknya?

Why is it even necessary to have a 'favoured' group in the first place?

Why is it necessary to make other people look bad to make yourself look better?

How can you survive in a workplace if you do not do (or do minimal) work but just ampu bos only?

Just because someone is different or do work differently than you, does that mean they are worse off than you or that you are better?

I mean this is really happening!

I know that this happens in the private profession as well (albeat only in rare cases)

And I noticed a common vein in all the places where this happens, ramai 'Melayu'.

Is this why? Adakah org Melayu ini bersifat pemalas dan pendengki? I mean that's what other races in Malaysia generally know us by (look at the connotations regarding the Malays in the movie Sepet) but really, really do we have to prove them right?

Do Malay bosses have a tendency to suka 'diampu' and favour one person over another?

I mean favouring one over another is perhaps, fine ..but marginalising others or those you are not fond of? Is that fair? Is that a conduct befitting of a head of an organisation?

I thought their role is to guide, teach, reprimand when you are wrong (not victimise - there is a difference here mind you) instead of going around telling everyone that 'so and so has no future in the government service, just tell him and/or her to quit'. I mean, how does that reflect on you as a head of a professional organisation..really? I do not know about you but it just sounds UN-PROFESSIONAL to me.

The reasoning deludes me. Being in private practice (where my contact with my own race is minimal), I have never faced such a situation or seen it happening. Here, we go up or down on the merits, on how hard we work, on our arguments in court and how we can cater to extreme workloads and deadlines.

Which have made me come to a conclusion, people like this would not last 5 minutes in private practice, because if you want to get by just by mengampu bos and mengutuk your colleagues and not do any work (or minimal work), you will not last very long,more likely than not it will be reflected in your billings at the end of the year.

And perhaps, your superior in private practice would at least have the sense to know who is doing work and who is not, and perhaps know that this sub-ordinate of his yang sanggup mengutuk colleague sendiri would probably mengutuk dia jugak sebenarnya.

Again, I struggle to understand it.

What irks and disgusts me the most is that some of these people who have been prima facie identified as 'kaki mengumpat' or 'mengadu' or 'mangampu' (or any combination of all those qualities) (Tuhan tarik lidah keluar sampai tercabut time akhirat nanti tahu?) are my and/or our own unimates!

BTW, what I am doing here is not mengumpat as I am saying it to your face that you are disgusting. I tak main cakap belakang ok?

P.S - Bagi unimate yng tak terasa, this post is clearly not meant for you, for those yang terasa tu, well - RES IPSA LOQUITUR.

Recent online purchases

The online shopping addict has been at it again!!

I am super stressed as the work load this year is 10 times heavier than last year. By that I mean:-

(i)     6 submissions to be finished by next week;

(ii)    2 opinions to be finished by next week (thank god I have already finished 1);

(iii)   About 9 witness statements for trials in July and September (bukankah sekarang ni Jun dah nak abis? Sigh); and

(iv) The list goes on..

So meanwhile buat kerje..shopping is a must, enjoy guys:-

This if from Puteri Fashion

Note to all blogshops out there:-

Thank you for visiting my blog. However please note that this is my personal blog and not a review blog. Please do not ask me to review your blogshop. I would still have to decline even if you say that you are willing to pay me as this is a labour of love on my part. Whatever items I have included here is what I have personally bought and what I personally love.

Thank you
